As it turns out it is the same guy that wrote both theme songs, and the same production company that made both shows. What is didn't know is that, amazingly enough, Family Matters was spun off from Perfect Strangers somewhere around season 4 or 5 of that show. Perfect strangers' theme song was also written by the same guy, which isn't surprising, given the preceding information, much like the fact that he also did the Step By Step theme.

This was all around the same time that Vanilla Ice's "Too The Extreme" was hitting number 1 on the Billboard charts. Don't you miss 1990?
